How to Choose a Dog Leash System: A Trainer's Guide

Here's the truth: there's no single "best" leash. There's the right leash for your dog, your walk, and where the two of you are in your training. Get that match right and walks get easier. Get it wrong and you fight your gear every step.

So let me walk you through how we think about it — the same way I'd talk you through it if we were standing at the trailhead together.

START WITH AN HONEST QUESTION: WHERE IS YOUR DOG RIGHT NOW?

Before you look at a single product, answer this honestly: does your dog already walk reasonably well on a leash, or are you still building that skill?

This matters more than anything else on the page, and it's the question most people skip.

A dog who walks politely on a leash has a world of options open to him. WHY I MADE THESE LEASHES IN THE FIRST PLACE
